Short Blurb: Our dogs are our world! We live on a smallholding which was purchased and adjusted just for them to enable us to own sheep and other livestock to test their natural instincts. All our dogs who live with us do so firstly as family pets, the Mudi share our bed at night and the Komondor have the option of whether they want to sleep on the sofa or be loose in the field with their sheep. We pride ourselves on the great life each and every one of our dogs has, spending the majority of our time exploring Ireland and new walking or camping trails, our favourite places being beaches or forests! We competitively compete across Ireland and occasionally UK & Europe in conformation and we also compete in multiple sports.

Where Did your Affix come from?

Regerastace was chosen through a combination of our dogs names, 'Rege' being the registered name of my foundation Mudi bitch, Rasta being the foundation dog and Komondor to my program, and Ace the Border Collie having been my first dog who I owned by myself, who has sadly now passed. Regerastace was founded in Ireland in January of 2016, originally beginning with only the Komondor breed when 'Rasta' (Bokorszeri Guba) arrived from Hungary after a long search and wait looking for the right Komondor for us. Our foundation Bitch Somogyi Betyar Venusz arrived in August of the same year. By Febuary of 2017 we had added our first foundation Mudi bitch, 'Red' to our pack.

What do you do with your dogs?

With my dogs I enjoy taking part in a wide range of sports depending what the individual dog enjoys! The main sports I partake in are Obedience, Rally, Agility, Hoopers and Athletics. Vibe was the first Mudi in Ireland to earn the BEG-EX Obedience title. Salsa was the first Mudi to represent the breed at Crufts in obedience on the Northern Ireland team. We have multiple dogs working at various levels in rally, hoopers and agility.

We do however also take part in Working Trials and Weightpull competitions! Our Mudi Relic was crowned Irelands Strongest Small Dog 2023  and our Komondor Guba was crowned Irelands Strongest Heavyweight 2023. We pride ourselves on our dogs fantastic condition!

As standard we also do the Canine Good Citizen scheme with our Mudi and we encourage each of our puppy owners to do it too! It is such a great foundation for anyone who may be interested in dipping their toes into the more competitive aspects of obedience work.

While there are not necessarily competitions for it available for us, we also enjoy herding (see below for more information), Trick dog training, canicross, scentwork and mantrailing. We are Open to giving just about anything a go and never pass on an opportunity to learn something new!

We also partake in conformation with all of our dogs! We travel all around Ireland and occasionally UK & Europe to compete. We have made up in excess of twenty champions and also made multiple dogs into International Champions. We have been Komondor Reserve Best Dog at crufts in 2024. From a breeding standpoint, we now have champions in every part of the world!

Do your dogs work livestock?

Yes! We live on a smallholding where we own sheep, goats, chickens and rabbits. All of which our dogs come into contact with daily. When the sheep or goats need moved the Mudi are only too eager to help us with the job at hand, and the Komondor love to be able to practice their own jobs as guardians by being out with the livestock to keep a careful eye on the property.

As an addition to this, I work on a dairy farm where the Mudi in rotation come to work with me to help with the moving of cattle.

One of the biggest advantages to owning the livestock ourselves is to be able to instinct test the puppies born here to see who would be suitable for a career as a working dog. This has proven very insightful especially for the Mudi to see who has the drive required for herding.

What breeds do you have experience in?

Growing up I and my family always had Border Collies as companions and at the time couldn't have imagined having anything else! While we do not currently own one it is a breed I hold dear to my heart and through family and friends, I still manage to spend a lot of time with them! I also spent many years working in Boarding & Quarantine Kennels where I got to meet and work with an endless list of breeds.
We have owned a total of 5 Komondor and had the breed from 2016. It is safe to say our home will never be without a Komondor. We share an interest in the continued preservation of the breed and work alongside breeders in Europe and USA to ensure the safety of the breeds future.
Probably the breed we are most known for, we have a vast amount of experience and knowledge when it comes to the Mudi! We have travelled the world (literally!!) meeting the breed, potential stud dogs and forming connections with other breeders. We use our gathered knowledge to allow us to build a breeding program which is now known worldwide. Alongside our owned dogs we co-own with others and have also helped many rescue Mudi in need to rehabilitate and rehome.
We always had an agreement that when we bought our first house, we would add a Curly Coated Retriever to the family! And after a long wait for the planned litter to be born we imported our first, Stamp from Czech Republic. By a chance encounter she was later followed by our second, Twist, from Poland!
And our most unexpected addition of all came in 2024 when an Irish Water Spaniel, Ripple joined our crazy family! Ripple comes from a working kennel here in Ireland. She is such a character within our house and on our travels it is hard to imagine a life without her being here and causing havoc with the Mudi!
